To steadily advance the formulation of the 14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Accreditation Work, formulate the strategic layout for accreditation, and complete the top-level design of the validation and verification accreditation system, the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) organized a research forum on validation and verification work on July 14, 2021.Chen Yunhua, Deputy Secretary-General of CNAS, led staff from the Accreditation Department for Certification Bodies and personnel responsible for the development of the validation and verification accreditation system to hold discussions with selected institutions engaged in validation and verification conformity assessment.

Chen Yunhua elaborated on the overall thinking and work progress of CNAS regarding businesses for validation and verification bodies. She pointed out that China has incorporated carbon peaking and carbon neutrality into the overall arrangement for ecological civilization construction, and set the goals of striving to reach carbon peaking before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality before 2060.Fully implementing the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Administration for Market Regulation, CNAS strives to leverage its strengths and role as a bridge in the design and implementation of the validation and verification accreditation system, provide technical support for government authorities, and facilitate enterprises’ participation in international competition and trade. Drawing on outcomes from this research, CNAS will carefully sort out demands for various validation and verification systems, and jointly carry out system development with conformity assessment bodies. CNAS will also strive for broader recognition by all sectors of society and promote the sound development of validation and verification conformity assessment activities.

At the forum, participants conducted extensive exchanges on their institutions’ validation and verification services, domestic and international market demands, government recognition and accreditation requirements. They also put forward opinions and suggestions on CNAS’s development of the validation and verification accreditation scheme.
